We were saddened to hear of the death of Richard (Dick) White who passed away on September 29, 2009 of a brain tumor in Portland. Dick was the boys' counselor during our time at The Dalles High School. He eventually moved to Portland and the Southern Coast areas and took various high school and community college counseling positions. He attended last year's gathering at Beckenridge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2009 Annual Event: Sunday, September 13 at McMenamins Kennedy School in Portland. 1-4 p.m. Thanks to Susan Patrick Goldstein and Joy Otteson King for setting up this highly successful "not back to school" event. Almost 30 classmates and significant others gathered to chat (& chew), play '60s games and renew friendships. Joy and Susan doubled our attendance from our last mini-reunion held last year! Mary Peightal lecturing to the class. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 45th Anniversary Reunion Date Set Our Reunion Planning Committee has decided that our 45th Anniversary Reunion will be Saturday, September 18, 2010 in The Dalles. More information will be following so be sure to look at this page frequently.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Janet Adkisson-Howe Passes Just recently we were informed that Janet Adkisson passed away in Bend. See our "In Memory" page for a few more details.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lester T Jensen For many of us the senior year was truly special due to Les Jensen's Senior and AP English classes. Mr. Jensen passed away on March 17, 2009. You may read his obituaries at these two sites: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Surgery for Mike Elston Mike Elston underwent a kidney removal two weeks ago and is doing well at home. He would like to thank everyone for their positive thoughts and prayers during this time. His computer should be up and working again soon; send him a happy note. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sarah Adkins passed away in Portland, Oregon on 12/4/08, after an extended illness. She was born on 1/25/47 in Rome, Italy to Virgil and Vera Adkins. She graduated from The Dalles High School in 1965. She is survived by her husband, David Kong; a son, David Hess of California; a daughter, Karen Hess of Portland; her sisters Shirley Fischer of Warren, Oregon; Barbara Adkins of Portland; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in The Dalles at a future date. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations to Marnie Moore We received an email for Marnie Moore the other day telling that he just completed medical transcription school. His school was the first to be nationally certified. He is very proud of his efforts and truly enjoys the work. We are pleased that an "old dog can learn new tricks" since not many of us would go through the work that Marnie did to get his certification.
